What a total joy this new DVD has proven to be to all Doris Day fans like myself. “Doris Day Christmas Memories”, I feel is the perfect escape from so many things worrying the world at present. For me, Doris Day with her delightfully warm persona and charm aplenty is the female performer along with the likes of Julie Andrews, and Rosemary Clooney, who I always automatically associate with Christmas and all that is wonderful about it. Doris just seems to fit in perfectly with all the beauty of the season, ie the carols, brightly wrapped presents, smiling faces, beautiful decorations and heaps of Christmas spirit. MPI DVD have done a wonderful job here in making all our Christmas wishes come true with this superb DVD presentation. They have featured here on the one DVD the three Christmas themed episodes from the delightful “The Doris Day Show”, which ran for five successful seasons from 1968 until 1973. Not only are all three episodes beautifully presented and highly entertaining in their own right, but miracle of miracles the producers have also managed to coax Miss Day herself away from her other activities to record a commentary track on one of the episodes! What a thrill it is to listen to Doris as she watches the episode and comments on the story and on her co-stars etc. If that is not enough to satisfy fans, the DVD also contains vintage newsreels showing Doris accepting awards, attending the premieres of some of her films such as “Pillow Talk”, and “The Thrill Of It All”, and there are also news clips of Doris participating in some Christmas charities.
